STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The primary learning objective of this game is for students to gain knowledge about the historical roots of the Arab/Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

SLO 1: At the end of the game, students should be able to describe the key historical events and documents that led to the establishment of Israel and the resulting conflict that continues to this day.

The second SLO is for students to understand the problem of “bias” in historical and cultural narratives.

SLO 2: At the end of the game, students should be able to identify when and explain how claims or stories that people tell about an event or situation is biased in favor of their own “side” for the purpose of benefitting themselves and/or their own group.

The third learning objective is to analyze the role that religion plays in global conflicts.

SLO 3: At the end of the game, students should be able to explain the root causes of the Arab-Israeli conflict – and distinguish whether the root causes are religious, secular (land/territory, resources, political rights, etc.), or somehow both.
