Introducción

Welcome to Spanish 1002 with Aquí y allí at Clayton State University. Why is it important to learn Spanish? Why am I taking Spanish? Why is Spanish in the core curriculum? Why is Spanish required for my major? How will knowing how to communicate, interact, and connect with other cultures. help me in the future?

ACTFL, The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages states that the goals for language learning can be summarized in 5 C´s.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively
  • Cultures: Interact with cultural competency and understanding
  • Connections: Acquire information and diverse perspectives
  • Comparisons: Develop insight into the nature of language and culture
  • Communities: Participate in multi-lingual communities at home and abroad

In Aquí y allí, each lesson addresses the 5 C´s for language learning with opportunities to engage with Spanish language and culture here (aquí) with our communities and there (allí), with other regions where Spanish is spoken within the United States and abroad.

A link to the audio and video of the text is provided at the beginning of each lesson. The audio and video of all text in Spanish within the textbook is intended to give the student the opportunity to hear and practice the spoken language while learning the material.

The lessons include a variety of topics with vocabulary and grammar that address learning outcomes for Elementary Spanish II.

  1. La casa
  2. La vida diaria
  3. Las comidas
  4. El restaurante
  5. La salud
  6. El aseo
